Basically, IMAP/POP3 is a simple email service providing basic functionality whereas Microsoft 365 provides a more fully featured email service including calendar, contacts, tasks etc., and easier sychronisation and sharing across multiple devices. IMAP/POP3 is generally suitable for sending and receiving a small volume of emails, whereas Microsoft 365 is more suiltable for a larger number of users and also allows you to send and receive larger attachments among other features.

IMAP/POP3 Email Hosting includes 20 GB of storage in total for up to 30 email accounts with a 40 MB attachment limit. You pay the same price regardless of how many email accounts you use, so it is a cost effective solution for basic email.

Microsoft 365 offers 50 GB of storage per user (which can be increased to 100 GB) with a 150 MB attachment limit. You pay a subscription per user account which can include just an email or you can include Office 365, OneDrive etc. Shared mailboxes are free with Microsoft 365 so a user can access multiple mailboxes and only require a single licence.

Unfortunately this is not possible. You cannot have email accounts on the same domain split over different platforms, they all must be setup the same. Basic IMAP/POP3 email and Microsoft 365 plans are two different products which run on two different platforms, so you can only use one or the other.

Perth Web Hosting can assist migrating your data from an IMAP/POP3 server to the Microsoft 365 platform. The cost to migrate is $25 exGST per mailbox plus $79 exGST per hour. The time to migrate depends on how many mailboxes you have and the size of the data that needs to be migrated, so the time taken varies. We will provide you an estimate of the total time we expect the migration to take for you to approve before we begin any work.

If an onsite visit is required, Perth Web Hosting can organise this at an additional cost. However, in most cases we can perform the migration remotely or via our secure remote desktop application. An onsite visit might be required if there is a large amount of data to migrate on a slow internet connection.

Please Note:
If your email is already using Microsoft 365, we do not need to migrate the data, we can simply link your Microsoft 365 Tenancy to our Microsoft Partner Portal. There is no downtime or cost to do this.

Generally, there is virtually no downtime when migrating your email over to Microsoft 365. Your email account will need to be set up in a new profile in Outlook so there is a small window where you will not have access to your emails whilst this is changed over, however you will not lose any new inbound email.

Initially, once we cut over your email to Microsoft 365, the mail flow may be slower than usual. This will depend on the amount of data that is being migrated over and the speed of your internet connection, but once everything is synced it wil return to normal. We recommend leaving your computer on overnight or over the weekend to ensure the migrated data can be fully synchronised with the server and your computer. The time taken to do this depends on the speed of your internet connection and how much data needs to be downloaded and/or uploaded.

We can schedule the migration to be performed outside of business hours, however, additional charges may apply. We are happy to discuss your requirements and work out a plan that best suits your needs.

Absolutely. We can simply transition your existing Microsoft 365 tenancy over to us. As a Microsoft Partner, we have access to over 50 licenses that we can provision for you. All we need is access to your Microsoft 365 Global Administrator account. 

If you have already paid upfront for an annual subscription, existing licenses will be honoured. Once your existing subscription is due for renewal, we can provision new licenses for you. There is no downtime for you to do this either so your accounts will continue to work while transitioning the licenses over.

Our IMAP/POP3 servers are hosted in the Next DC Datacentre in Malaga (P1) and the Next DC Datacentre (P2) in Perth City.

All Microsoft 365 services are hosted from the Microsoft 365 network located in Sydney & Melbourne. All Microsoft 365 products are hosted exclusively on the Microsoft network and are PCI compliant to the Australian legislation.

We maintain 6 hourly backups for our IMAP/POP3 Email Hosting which are retained for 21 days, and our servers and backups are stored in seperate data centers. Just like our Web Hosting, we use the popular JetBackups plugin for cPanel. You can restore your full cPanel account or recover an individual or multiple email accounts, with the time to restore your data being as little as a few seconds depending on your mailbox size. You can manage all of this yourself by logging into your cPanel and we are happy to provide assitance if you need help.

Microsoft 365 accounts hosted on Microsoft infrastructure and is replicated two different data centres. You can recover deleted emails for up to 14 days and deleted accounts for up to 30 days. 

We can also provide DropSuite subscriptions to backup your Microsoft 365 data 12 times per day for up to 10 years. Additional monthly fees will apply so please enquire with us to find out more.
